ScaleBox 2.0 — Bounding Box Scale Tool

Optimize your level-building workflow with an advanced box-scale tool for the Unreal Engine editor — the one you never knew you were missing.

Tap R twice. Drag a face to scale, Alt-drag it to array, right-click it to mirror.

Unreal Engine 5.5 – 5.8 · Windows editor · editor-only, zero runtime footprint

New in 2.0

Drag to array — hold Alt and drag a face: flush copies, live count, one undo. Lights in the selection come along.
Stairs in one drag — Alt-drag an edge handle and the copies step diagonally across it.
Array spacing — pick an interval or type a gap on any handle's right-click menu. Blueprint actors array too.
Right-click to mirror and offset — mirror in place, flip across a face, or duplicate one box length over.
New looks and options — Minimal handle style, color presets, and an icon-only menu.

See it in action

Face handles — any actor, any shape. Spheres stretch as happily as boxes.
Smart snapping — hold V, point at geometry, the face lands flush.
Corner handles — uniform scale from the opposite corner.
Grid snapping — honors your editor snap settings.
Symmetric scale — hold Shift to scale about the center.
Volumes too — nav meshes, triggers, collision boxes: anything with bounds scales the same way.
Bonus scaffold materials — the procedural blockout set that ships with the plugin.

Features

Face handlesAxis-colored handles on every face of the selection's bounds. Drag one — the opposite face stays pinned, so walls stay planted on floors and flush against corners.
Drag to array (new in 2.0)Hold Alt and drag a face handle: copies stamp out flush along that axis, one per box length, with a live count. Pull back to remove them. Alt-drag an edge instead and the copies step diagonally — one tread becomes a staircase. One undo step for the whole row.
Right-click to mirror (new in 2.0)Right-click a face handle to mirror, offset, or duplicate across that face — exact on rotated selections. Build half an archway, Duplicate and Mirror, and the other half lands already flush.
World or local group boxOne toggle on the handle menu: a multi-selection's box follows the world axes or the last-selected actor, so a rotated row can be scaled or arrayed again along its own directions.
Corner and edge handlesCorners scale uniformly from the opposite corner (exact even on rotated multi-selections) or free-form, axis by axis. Edge handles scale two axes at once with the opposite edge pinned.
Smart snappingHold V and point the cursor at any geometry — the dragged face jumps flush to it, at any distance.
Live size readoutSee the selection's dimensions in units while you drag.
Grid snappingRespects the editor's snap settings without disturbing off-grid placement. Ctrl inverts it mid-drag.
Symmetric & mirrorShift scales about the center. Drag deliberately past zero to mirror — sticky, so it never happens by accident.
Volumes & bounds tooNav mesh volumes, box collisions, triggers, blocking volumes — anything with bounds scales the same way. Not just meshes.
It's not a modeThe scale tool you already use, with a second gear. No editor mode tab, no tool palette, no learning curve — everything lives on the handles you're already dragging. Full undo, construction scripts re-run on release.
Make it yoursHandle sizes, snap feel, and every color are tunable — with Classic, Synthwave and Haunted color presets to start from, and a Minimal handle style when you want the box out of the way.
Bonus materialsA fully procedural, zero-texture scaffold / blockout material set ships with the plugin.

Controls

ControlEffect
Drag face handleScale along that axis; opposite face pinned
Drag corner handleUniform scale from the opposite corner; with Free-Form Corners on, each axis follows the cursor on its own
Drag edge handleScale the two axes square to that edge; opposite edge pinned
Alt + drag any handleArray: flush copies, one per box length pulled, live count; the original never moves. A face makes a straight row, an edge steps diagonally (stairs), a corner steps on all three axes. Release keeps the row, Esc drops it
Right-click face handleFace menu: Mirror Across Face, Mirror in Place, Offset Across Face, each with a Duplicate version; plus the Local Space Group Box toggle
Right-click edge or corner handleMirror About Edge and Offset Across Edge on edges, Mirror About Corner on corners, each with a Duplicate version
Shift + dragSymmetric — scale about the box center
Ctrl + dragInvert grid snapping
Hold V + dragSmart snapping: face jumps flush to the geometry under your cursor, at any distance; point near a mesh vertex and the handle snaps to that vertex; with the cursor in empty space, the face snaps to geometry it passes near
Esc during dragCancel and restore original transforms
Drag past zeroMirror the selection (sticky ~25% overshoot; never on BSP)

Settings

Editor Preferences → Plugins → ScaleBox: a Handle Style (Solid or Minimal), an Edge Handles switch, handle sizes, hit-test padding, a handle Color Preset (Classic, Synthwave, Haunted) plus every individual color, mirror overshoot threshold, contact-snap distance, vertex snap radius, and the Free-Form Corners and Local Space Group Box defaults. Changes apply live.
